		... Basics of Block Masonry (Using 8"x8"x16" Concrete Block)

		1. Find the square footage of the wall or walls you plan on contructing.

		Example: Length of 50' x Height of 10' = 500 sqft.

		2. Take the square footage and divide by 0.89.

		Example: 500 sqft ÷ 0.89 = 561.7977 or 562 concrete block

		3. A good average is 35 block for every bag of mortar.

		Example: 562 block ÷ 35 = 16.057 or 17 bags of mortar

		4. Each bag of mortar can accept an average mix of 210 pounds of sand.

		Example: 17 bags of mortar x 210 = 3,570 pounds of sand, just under 2 tons
