Prepare
The Site
|
|
| Dig
a trench the full length and width of the wall you want to construct.
The depth of the trench should be slightly more than the height
of one wall unit. Place a leveling pad, consisting of a 4 in. layer of compacted, 304 crushed limestone and a 1 in. layer of concrete sand for leveling purposes. Before you dig call your local utility company to locate any underground lines. |

The Base Course

|
| Once
the leveling pad is complete, install the first layer of units.
For correct alignment, use a string line along the back to make
sure the wall units are flush. Use a level to ensure that units
are uniform front-to-back and side-to-side. After the base course is level and in place, use the soil created from digging the trench to backfill the void behind the units. It is important to tightly compact the soil to ensure a solid base for the rest of the courses. |

Before
laying the second course of units, make sure the top of the first
layer of wall block has been cleaned and is free of debris. |
